Project Background
2003 – The product idea was conceived by Careers Scotland Highlands and Islands Enterprise to address logistic and cost challenges in providing work experience to school students in Highlands and Islands.
2003 - July 2005 – Initial proof of concept was established and a prototype produced using 3D tools and evaluated by educationalists and business people. Funding was secured to begin product development and extend scope of the project to complement and supplement actual work experience placements across the whole of Scotland and enhance Determined to Succeed’s work related learning opportunities.
July 2005 onwards – Product development started under the stewardship of the Project Review Board.
February 2006 – The first three virtual worlds, Contact Centre World; Hair, Beauty and Nails World and NHS Trauma World were unveiled.
March – September 2006 – The development phase is completed for the first three
worlds. This includes testing of different applications of the technology.
September – The three virtual worlds entered a phase of extended customer acceptance testing with selected schools and business organisations.
